Hi My name is Marcie(Fijewski)Easton and I am a graduate student at West Virginia University. I am 27 years old and married to a wonderful man in Lewisburg, WV. I could not have gone to school (or made this web page) without him and his support and understanding. I must note, that if it were not for my wonderful parents that none of this would have been possible for me to have achieved. After 4 long years I have finally made it into a masters program for speech pathology. I graduated from WVU in 1996 and due to a so-so GPA I was unable to get into graduate school. I applied for an SLP position in the southern WV school system and there I worked for 4 years as an uncertified speech pathologist. Although it has proved to be an invaluable experience I would not recommend working without being certified. In those 4 years I pursued my masters in special education. I am currently a certified special education teacher in the areas of learning disabilities, behavior disorders and the mentally impaired. I am currently 6 hours shy and one written exam from finishing my masters. The knowledge that I have learned in special education helped me to better understand the children that I worked with on a daily basis and to meet their needs more effectively. Finally this past spring I receieved notice that I had been admitted to WVU and to Radfor University. I chose WVU of course. Plus there were many who supported me and were willing to take a chance on me at WVU. I'll be forever grateful. In four years I was rejected over 26 times to get into a program. Perververance has become my middle name. It has become my mission in life to obtain this degree and now, hopefully, in December 2001, I will graduate with my masters in speech Pathology. I will eventually finish my special ed as well. With only 6 hours and a test to go I'd be crazy not to finish.
